Activity Description

Hermanus, nestled between the mountains and the sea, is a year-round destination for locals and international visitors alike. Renowned for its natural beauty, charming shops, and world-class shore-based whale watching, it offers an unforgettable coastal experience.

You will begin your journey with a scenic coastal drive along one of the country’s most breathtaking ocean routes, offering dramatic mountain cliffs, sweeping Atlantic Ocean views, and charming coastal villages along the way.

Our first stop will be a visit to Stony Point Nature Reserve in Betty’s bay, where you will get to observe the African penguin colony as they go about their daily activities in their natural habitat, without disturbing or disrupting them.
There is a small restaurant here if you want to grab a coffee or snack.

Following this you will visit the Walker bay region is also known for its wine industry located in the stunning Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, located just outside Hermanus town and home to several award-winning wineries.
You will experience four of the best wines at ‘Creation’ wine estate, a globally celebrated, cool-climate South African winery, known for it’s award-winning Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs.

Next a short drive to Hermanus town where you will have ample free time to enjoy a meal with panoramic views, browse the local shops and galleries, and take a leisurely walk along the cliff-top pathways.
During whale-watching season, close sightings of Southern right whales from these paths are highly likely, making Hermanus one of the world’s premier destinations for shore-based whale watching.

The tour will conclude with the drive back to Cape Town city, making a short stop at never@home Hermanus for those guests who would like the option of staying overnight in Hermanus.
